AP Spanish Language & Culture is a course open to juniors & seniors.
Proficiency goals for AP Spanish
In class, we will do in-depth study of the culture and language of the Spanish-speaking world, as we work to attain an Intermediate High level of language proficiency. Here's what a student will be able to do by the end of AP Spanish with an Intermediate High level of proficiency in Spanish:
INTERPRETIVE PROFICIENCY:
AP Spanish Language & Culture test
Students are strongly encouraged to take the AP test© in the spring of the course and could receive college credit, depending on the outcome of the test. The course is a year-long and follows the curriculum approved by the College Board©.
The AP Spanish Language & Culture test for 2019-20 is to be held on: Tuesday, May 11, 2021. Sign up information will be distributed through the WCHS Guidance Department in February of our academic year.

- I can usually follow the main message in various time frames in straightforward, and sometimes descriptive, paragraph length informational (and sometimes fictional) texts.
- I can usually understand the main idea and flow of events expressed in various timeframes in conversations and discussions.
- I can exchange information in conversations and some discussions on a variety of familiar and some concrete topics that I have researched, using connected sentences that may form paragraphs and a variety of questions, often across various time frames.
- I can interact with others to meet my needs in a variety of situations, sometimes involving a complication, using connected sentences that may form paragraphs and asking a variety of questions, often across various timeframes.
- I can explain preferences, opinions, and emotions and provide advice on a variety of familiar and some concrete topics that I have researched, using a connected sentences that may form paragraphs and asking a variety of questions, often across various timeframes.
- I can tell stories and give detailed presentations about school, community events and personal experiences (or other familiar topics & some concrete topics), using a few short paragraphs, often across various timeframes
- I can state my viewpoint on familiar or researched topics and provide reasons to support it, using a few short paragraphs, often across various time frames.
